Kazakhstan and Intellectual property
During a recent visit to Kazakhstan the question of royalties implementation and collection has been raised during many different meetings with members of the Ministry of Agriculture.
A member of Kazagroinnovations said: "As for the position of Minagri, it was a request of the current minister of agriculture to develop such a system. What we will do this year: we will study European and Australian systems and then have a meeting with the Minister and aprove our concept on how we should proceed..."

Kazakhstan is still not a member of UPOV but there is a Kazakh Law on plant protection.
Will this royalty issue will drive Kazakhstan to apply for UPOV membership, this is not known currently?
